This Sunday evening，I enjoyed the dinner cruise with my niece, Yukiko-chan.
She visited Yokohama on businnes，so I invited her to the dinner cruise
with my wife.
We met her at Kannai station and came to Yokohama Great Wharf by tax.

According to the weather forecast,
it would be rainy from the evening.
But I was relieved because it was
not right.
The street near Kannai was
very crowded with many high
school baseball fans who came
from Yokohama stadium.
On that day，the final that selected
varsity from North Kanagawa area for the summer national high school baseball
taurnament was held at the stadium and it looked like the game was sent
into extra
innings.
We went on board the restaurant ship，"Royal Wing"，and enjoyed
Chinese food with
some alcohol while chatting with her.
After dinner，we also came out to the top floor of the deck and enjoyed the fantastic
night view around Yokohama Port while feeling the comfortable sea breeze.

Anyway，I had a nice time for about
2 hours.
After coming back to my home,
I saw on the TV's sport program
that Keiou high school beat
Toukaidai-Sagami high school nine
to six in the 13th inning.
I'm looking forward to watching
the base ball taurnament on TV
which will begin at Koshien stadium on August 2nd.

I was very busy with yacht sailing twice，golf competition and my friend's funeral from
a week ago last Saturday.
A close friend from my school days dropped dead by a heart attack, so
I had to attend
his funeral at his place in Hamamatsu，Shizuoka prefecture last Teusday.

On the following day，I was at the
friendlly golf competition on the golf
course in Chiba from early morning.
Off course，My score was terrible
because I was very tired.
I think I must not make excuses
for why I couldn't have a good score,
but a bad excuse ｉs better than none
at all.
This Sunday，I enjoyed yacht race with my regular crews off the west coast
of Izu.
It was an ideal day for sailing because it was fine and windy.
But it was too hot and I got a good tan on my skin.
The number of crews on our yacht was six.
Nine yachts were at the race.
We started sailing at the sign from both the flag and the whistle at just
10:30 a.m.
The race was held on the sea of Suruga Bay.
The halfway mark was a yellow stationary buoy floating on the sea approximately
5 Kilometers distant from the starting point.

The winner was judged in view of
the lap time and the handicap.
The handicap depends on some
structural factors of the body of
a yacht like dimensions.
Our yacht team was last in the race
on the lap time，but comprehensively
took forth place.

Last night, I was invited to jazz live show by my second cousin.
So, I enjoyed it at the small restraunt called Shinzyuku minotory-2 in
Shinzyuku with
her and her friends.
It was held from 7:30 p.m. to around 9.
We listened to jazz while having a dinner with some alcohol.
Three women's jazz singers sung songs.
Main singer was a jazz vocalist，Ms. Martha Miyake who was on top in the
field of juzz
vocalist in Japan and was the original wife of Mr.Kyosen Ohashi famous for TV talent
in Japan in the past.
Other singers were her pupils.
The stage was small, so the instruments of band were just piano and bass
without
drams.
First, two pupils sang three juzz songs each other，and then she sang three
songs last.
I was very surprised that she had a powerful voice although she looked
elderly.
It showed that she was one of the best vocalist in Japan.
Anyway，I was very impressed by her jazz vocal though I listened to live jazz for the
first time.
After the show, ｗｅ had the photograph taken with her.

「マ−サ−三宅・ジャズ・ライブショ−」
Last weekend，I took two night trip with my wife to enjoy the third family
reunion and
then stop over at brother-in-law's place on my way back to Yokohama.
It was held in my hometown，Uji in Kyoto famous for the high-grade green
tea and
Byoudouin temple well-known as the World Heritage Site.
The site of the reunion was the Japanese-style hotel，"Ayusou"
by the Uji river as usual.
We usually held on late Saturday on May evry year.
But this year，it was held just a month behind schedule because I was very
busy with
my overseas travel，the class reunion， the golf competition and other events.
On our arriving at the hotel from JR Uji station by taxi，my brother's
couple met us
at the front entrance.
As we are chatting with them in the room over a cup of green tea served
by a serving
lady after saying a hello to each other，my elder brother's wife and nephews
came
there.

As it got around 4:30 p.m. on time，we moved to the
Japanese-style dining room on the river overhanging the Uji
river.
The purpose of this reunion is to promote friendship between
the family while chatting together over dinner and/or drink.
New nephew's couple who recently got remarried was at the reunion to introduce
themselves to us.
So，this time it was also main event that everyone would congratulate them on their
remarriage.
My younger brother gave a toast to new couple，saying "Congratulations
!" and
the party begun.
And then，a bunch of flowers was presented to the couple with applause.
New couple really looked hopeful and bright in an atmosphere that they
were full of
happiness.

The feast grew gradually fast and furious due partly to the
influence of alcohol，while having a set of Japanese dishes.
Although we felt a little bit lonely because elder brother who
passed away two years ago wasn't at the party，he of the past
was looking at the feast from his snapshot in the frame
on the table.
First we introduced ourselves to bride and then we talked at length about many topics
like our family's news，grandchild's news，our hobbies，overseas travel，young
guy's
company life and other interests.
It was sprinkling outside but the show of cormorant fishing called "Ukai"
in Japanese,
which is one of the charming summer sights of Uji, started around 7 p.m.

We could see the show on the Uji River at the dining room
on the river.
Three cormorant fishing boats was approaching us slowly.
It's a show that tourists on the boat can see ancient fishing
method catching sweetfish called "Ayu"in Japanese by using
trained cormorants.
The fisherwoman wearing a long traditional costume of Kazaori-Eboshi
( a kind of hat ) and Koshi-mino ( a kind of loin-cloth made of straw )
handled several
cormorants near the bonfire at the bow and they caught some Ayu swimming
in the river.
This show in the twilight was really misterious and magnificent.
So I released the shutter on my digital camera many times to take photos
of those
scenes.
But I was very sorry that those picteres didn't come out well.
