From last Sunday to Saturday, I took a trip to Bangkok in Thailand to enjoy
golf and sightseeing with
five past classmates.
We flied from Narita to the international airport in Bangkok by the 6:30
P.M, NW027 flight on last
Sunday.
It took about six hours and a half for the adverse wind.
On the first day, we went sightseeing in Bangkok with a local guide by a chartered microbus with
a driver.
We visited four famous temples like the Wat Phra Kaew, also known as temple of the Emerald
Buddha within the grounds of the royal grand palace； Wat Arun，also called
as temple of Dawn； Wat
Pho, also known as The temple of the Reclining.
Buddha and Wat Benchamabophit，also known as marble temple.
There were very crowded with many foreign tourists as well as Thai at
every temples.

Most of the temples in Thailand were very colorful with orange，green and white.
On the second day，we enjoyed golf on the course at the Royal Golf Club
in the suburbs in Bangkok.
It was very fine and 30 to 35 ℃ high but not humid，so we could play it
comfortably.
The course was flat，but had lots of bunkers，ponds，and canals.
I had many troubles there，so my score was bad.

On the third day, we saw the sight in Ayuttaya，where was designated as
the World Herritage Site.
In the morning，We visited Bang Pa-In Royal Palace，also known as the Summer
Palace and Wat Yai
Chai Mongkul within Ayuttaya histrical park.
The palace facilities comprise vast gardens，many Renaisaance-style and
Rococo-style
royal palaces，a Chinese-style royal palace，a lookout tower and pavilions．
Each of them was a fine view.
Especially，the Phra Thinang Aisawan Thiphya-Art，a pavilion constructed
in the middle of a pond was
really elegant and my most unforgettable building.

There were the tallest chedi in Ayuttaya，92 meters in height within the
grounds of Wat Yai Chai
Mongkul.
Also，there was a large reclining Buddha under the open sky.
On the forth day，we enjoyed friendly golf again at Subhapruek Golf Club.
I played a round of golf getting a cady to hold a parasol for the first
time.
I was in a rich mood although I was a pensioner.
During the stay，I got a massage twice like oil massage and Thai traditional
one.
Its fee was very cheap compared to that in Japan.
Generally speaking，Thai food，especially Tom Yam Kung was spicy，but delicious
for me.
Shinhai Beer made in Thailand had a nice taste similar to Japanese one，so
we drunk it every day.
Anyway, everyone had good days in Thailand.
I think I want to visit there some day once more again.

The day before yesterday, I played golf privately with my past company's
coworkers on the golf course
at Kamakura Public Golf Club.
Contrary to the weather forecast before just a week, it was rainy all
day long according to the newest
one.
But, I got one of my coworker to pick me up at my home and came to the
golf club on time.
Since it wasn't so rainy and cold, we came to the decision to play golf
after we talked about whether we
would do that or not.
Off course, I took appropriate measures for the cold, putting "Kairo"
on the undershirt arround not only
my waist but also my legs.
So, I didn't feel it was so cold.
It really felt just like the good old days to see some OBs again after
an interval of several years.
One of them has been active in business,but I felt like everyone got older
as same as me.
Anyway, it was something that they were very fine.
I warmed up for the coming competition, " Thailand Open" by
playing this practice round.
My score was so-so.
It was OK for me.
I could really feel refreshed by a warm bath after golf because I might
have got cold after all.
After that, we talked about the good old days for about half an hour, while
having a cup of coffee
with a birthday cake served as its present from the club for one of us
who would have a birthday
this month.
We broke it up making a promise that we would play golf together again finding a convenient
opportunity each other.

Japanese Diary / No.48−2008.02.12 / 「雨のゴルフ」
Last Thursday evening, I was informed from my wife by cellular phone that her mother passed away
at the hospice, when I was just going to English Language School.
My wife was at the hospice in Ootu in Shiga prefecture to care for her.
So, it was lucky in unhappiness for my wife that she could see her mother
on her deathbed.
My mother-in-law was very fine till last autumn although she's been troubled with diabetes, but she
couldn't get over cancer that have got since then and passed away at the
age of 87.
The funeral was held at the funeral hall in Kyoto from last Friday to
Saturday.
My daughter who was one of her granddaughters ran from Holland under studying
abroad to attend
the funeral.
Probably, she is glad that she was sent off toward the next world by her
family, many relatives and her
friends.
Memories when she was traveling around Hiroshima and Yamaguchi with us last summer came and
went in my mind like phantasmagoria.
It was something that she could celebrated the New Year with her family
and many relatives.
Anyway, I only pray for the soul of her.
