Lawn mowing in the yard No.266−Aug 5, 2017

The growth rate of Japanese lawn grass in my yard has reached its peak
since the end of the rainy season.
If the lawns aren't taken care of , they are just weeds which damage the
landscape of the yard.
So, in the summer season when the growing of lawns is full of vigor, the
frequency of mowing became high and two times a month.

[Note] mow ; (草などを)刈る、lawn mowing ; 芝刈り

The growth rate of not only lawns but also weeds becomes high.
I have to sprinkle water to the lawns everyday because the turf become
dry in the heat.
It's just a season I have to spend much time and energy on the
maintenance of the lawn.

[Note] sprinkle water to 〜 ; 〜に散水する、turf ; 芝土

Now, I always mow the lawns after making sure of the timing the sun
goes down.
I do that with an electric lawn mower taking about an hour a day and
little by little over a few days to complete.
I use an electric lawn clipper only when I mow the lawns at the narrow
place where the lawn mower can't be used, around the curb and at the
edge of the building.

I already finished mowing the frontyard yesterday.
Today I mowed the backyard.

Since I have skipped the maintenance of the lawns in the backyard,
they are growing straggly.

If I don't mow the lawns sometimes, they look ugly.

Before mowing, I usually perform a preprocessing of pulling weeds.
The following picture is the condition of the lawns after preprocessing.

Though I have to mow the lawns grown around the curb after that, I will
do that from tomorrow.

It's said the lawn has the charcteristics of growing laterally when it is
prevented from growing upward.
We can not only maintain the beauty of lawns with them trimmed to a
uniform length but also can help them to grow and the density of their
leaves to increase.

I use a lawn mower to mow the lawns.
I sometimes mow the lawns below their growing point because of my
mistake.
In Japanese, it is called “Jikukari.”
Jikukari means deep mowing that all part of leaves are mowed.
Since the lawns are less able to perform an important photosynthesis for
the plants due to it, they stop growing and die.

In other words, it is “toragari (stripe-pattern haircut)” in terms of
haircut.
It makes bad appearance.

For some time in the future, I will be interrupted by the maintenance of
the lawns.
It's unavoidable to make beautiful lawns.
