Last Saturday, I attended a memorial service on the first anniversary
of my elder
brother's death.
I visited my younger brother's place in my home town, Uji in Kyoto the day before,
and stayed there.
I had a dinner at a Japanese restaurant with his family because it's been
a half year
since I met them.
On the following day, I visited my sister-in law's place in Osaka with
them taking about
an hour by car.
The Buddhist service by a monk was held at her place.
About thirty relatives from both sides of my brother's family and the widow's
one
attended it.
It was over in an hour or so.
After that, we were entertained to dinner at Japanese restaurant by the
chief mourner.
We had a lot of chat remembering my elder brother who passed away or about
how
we've been getting along.
I really felt, "Time flies".

I enjoyed two night trip to Karuizawa in order to be at the class reunion
with past
classmates from this Monday.
On the first day, I left Shinzyuku for Karuizawa with four friends by
car using
the Kanetu Highway.
We arrived at a resort hotel arround 3 p.m.
We joined mates of a tennis-loving group who had stayed here from the day
before.
When we arrived here, they were playing tennis at the court where was set up as an
annex to the hotel.
After we felt refreshed by a hot spring and changed into yukata, we enjoyed
a convivial
meeting from arround 6 p.m. at a restaurant of the hotel.
We had a lot of chat each other about how we've been getting along, while
drinking
some alcohols like beer, Japanese sake, and syoucyu with some delicious
garnishes.
On the second day, we were divided into two groups, that is, a group of
golf and
a group of tennis, and acted as we had reported ourselves beforehand.
I enjoyed golf with some mates on the course near the hotel.
Although it was cloudy in the morning, it changed to rain from the afternoon and a fog
sometimes closed in over the golf course.
We actually played under a tough condition.
Fortunately, I won the second place.
After that, I stayed at another resort hotel called 'XIV Karuizawa' with
other three
mates.

Mt.Asama is an active volcano. It stands 2,568m
above sea level and on the border of Gunma and
Nagano prefecture.

On the last day, we went for
a drive to the foot of Mt. Asama,
the countryside of Tumagoi village
and Azuma ravine for Tokyo.
Mt. Asama stood out cleary against
the blue sky.
A lot of cabbage patch spread
out all over the hill in Tumagoi village.
Its fresh dark green was really vivid.
I thought truly here was the greatest
source of cabbages inJapan.
Azuma ravine was really a lovely landscape because it had some sharp peaks
on the
right and the left along Azuma river, and its blue mountain stream ran down among
the rocks or stagnated deeply.
We stopped by at the country restaurant for launch and had a Japanese noodles soup
and a grilled char with salt as one of the peculiarity of the region.
And then we headed straight for Tokyo.

By the way, When we called
by at the service area on the
way home, we were very
surprised to hear the news
that Japanese Pprime
minister, Mr.Abe resigned
his position.
The whole land was ringing with
the news.
